We need your help supporting children during the time of COVID-19 and virtual learning
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
Since 2012, The Mareda Center (TMC) has been working with families living in extreme poverty. Located off Cherry St. in the heart of the city, the TMC team works tirelessly to connect families with educational programs that bring students success, graduation to further their lives, and supports parents in this endeavor too!
The Mareda Center meets families where they are and helps improve their daily lives – providing food, clothing, school support, after school and preschool education programs, parenting programs, and wrap around services. Knowing that graduation decreases the probability of incarceration, the TMC team believes education is critical!
Since the pandemic, TMC has supported families by distributing over 15,500 daily meal packs to children living in the neighborhood, provided over 500 weekend meal boxes and family fun activities every Friday, and “porch dropped” cleaning supply kits containing supplies and CDC cleaning tips and suggestions. TMC has worked to educate families about the deadly virus and the importance of wearing masks, washing hands, and regularly cleaning and sanitizing high touch surfaces. And when schools went virtual with their learning, TMC helped families secure internet service and delivered laptops so children could continue their education and stay connected to their learning.
And the work is now more critical than ever! Children are returning to school – whether on-line or in person – after almost 6 months at home. The TMC team is ready to support their learning, ready to insure children and families engage in learning – but we need your support to make it happen!
